Reviews

Barkey

3/17/2025

Looking for a St. Patrick's Day movie to review for my YouTube channel, I came across this picture, "Shamrocks" (2022). While it doesn't really show off much for the holiday, the movie was a fun watch so I reviewed it anyway. Barry is a small-time crook is racing against time to raise money to pay off his debt, and he only has the St. Patrick's Day weekend to find the dough... or else! Along the way Barry inadvertently creates a domino effect where other characters get drawn in to a series of escalating events. I liked "Shamrocks" (2022). This is a fun indie crime comedy made on a shoestring budget ($50k or less!), with a cast of mostly unknowns or first-timers. Photography was excellent throughout, and the cast was good, especially Jeno Wilkinson as Barry, and I liked the guy playing his cousin, too. "Shamrocks" (2022) is stylish and it's pretty good for what it is, and to have made it on that scanty budget is really impressive. Why director Greg Lofrano has not made another picture since 2022 is beyond me. He really needs to get back at it.
