Whilst I do reckon that the cinema is a great place for this kind of vibrant and action-packed animation, it’s not so important for the stories here as this spends quite a while abridging what are quite clearly previous storylines before teeing us up for an introduction to the new curse-laden grudge matches that are to play out in the next series. Now that’s hardly new, but at least the “Demon Slayer” films try to present more stand-alone movies that offer us something a lot more self-contained. This doesn’t, and so if you don’t already know about the story thus far, nor of the sources of the bitterness, rancour and alliances between “Otadori”, “Gojo”, my own favourite “Okkotsu” et al then this won’t really advance your knowledge much and really only serves as a tease. That said, there are still plenty of metamorphosing slug-like critters with huge teeth, brutal combat scenes that test the mortality of just about everyone and it’s got a soundtrack that works well in helping the pace rollick along. It’s a decent watch, but to make much sense of the continuing characterisations it is really only for regular fans of the series - and I suspect they will have seen it all before.
